IFAT ENTSORGA 2012
1) Living in the Water Cycle
Water recycling systems for megacities

The global water consumption continues to rise. The result: highly industrialized countries, especially those with megacities as well as Third World countries are struggling with the problem of lacking groundwater supply. Plant and machinery installers are already offering energy-efficient and energy-generating solutions: energy-self-sufficient control systems for the automation of day-to-day operations as well as water saving and recycling models for new housing estates.

2) Waste - Energy Source for Megacities
Even today more than half of the world’s population lives in cities; by 2050 70 percent are expected to be urban dwellers. The hunger for energy and the amount of waste of these cities require solutions.
Future-oriented ideas from the engineering sector such as energy generation from waste and cutting-edge building technology help to reduce the environmental burden to a minimum.

3) Festo Metropolitan Solutions – Waterworks
Apart from all the needs and desires of a modern industrial society, economic growth in China also needs water. Clear, clean water. The waterworks for the city’s 6 million inhabitants treats 4.5 million cubic meters of water per day. It works with Festo Technology. Some one hundred waterworks and sewage plants in China have been supplied with Festo’s solutions – helping make the plants more efficient.

4) Drinking water emergency – if water becomes a problem

Every day, lack of access to cleanwater kills millions of people. The main problem is the enormous amount of waste water of Megacities such as Istanbul. As yet Turkey's biggest city has contaminated rivers and the Medite- rranean with its waste water. But a cutting-edge waste water treatment system is putting things right. Waste water is an under- estimated problem, even in Germany: Pharmaceuticals and radio-opaque substances pollute lakes and rivers. We demonstrate how to extract problematic pollutants via high-tech.
