Strategies and new solutions for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management—the world's leading trade fair IFAT provides the appropriate setting for innovations in the fields of environmental protection and occupational safety.

The joint booth of VDMA’s Air-handling Technology Association focuses on the topics of air pollution control and waste/recycling technology.

Five member companies have joined forces with the VDMA to present efficient solutions for air pollution control and environmental technologies at IFAT.

Air pollution control:

  • DFT GmbH Deichmann Luftfiltertechnik
  • Indusa GmbH
  • IVOC-X GmbH
  • Venjakob Umwelttechnik GmbH & Co. KG

Waste and recycling technology:

  • MOCO Maschinen- und Apparatebau GmbH & Co.KG

Recycling management, environment and occupational safety under one umbrella

For the first time, the VDMA offers a joint cross-industry booth for air pollution control and waste/recycling technology.

On average, every European produces just under half a ton of waste each year. The technologies of the member companies of VDMA’s Waste Treatment and Recycling Association are intended to keep as much of this waste as possible in the recycling cycle.

On the other hand, the members of VDMA’s Air Pollution Control Department manufacture extraction systems and equipment for a wide range of industries, especially focusing on occupational safety and environmental protection.

The common tasks and challenges are manifold.

The cross-industry joint booth therefore offers a good platform for communicating universal topics in a sustainable manner.

The Association of Local Utilities (VKU) represents the interests of the local utility sector in Germany. The approximately 1,500 member companies organized in the VKU are primarily active in energy supply, water and sewage management, waste management and urban cleaning. With more than 268,000 employees, in 2017 they generated sales revenues of around EUR 116 billion and invested around EUR 10 billion.

In the end customer segment, the member companies have a market share of 61.0 percent in electricity, 66.7 percent in natural gas, 86.4 percent in drinking water, 70.2 percent in heat supply and 43.8 percent in sewage disposal. Furthermore, they dispose of 31,500 tons of waste every day and make a decisive contribution to Germany achieving the highest recycling rate—namely 68 percent—among the member states of the European Union.

Currently, around 180 municipal companies are involved in expanding broadband networks. In 2017, they invested more than EUR 375 million—around 6 million customers can use the broadband infrastructure of municipal companies already today.
