Management of hazardous substances—Demolition—Mineral processing

In light of increasingly scarce capacities for landfill and backfilling, there is growing need for innovative solutions for the recycling of mineral waste from construction/demolition measures and of excavated soil. IFAT 2020 will address this need by introducing the new special area “Management of hazardous substances—Demolition and mineral processing—Road construction”.

Recycling begins with a detailed analysis of hazardous substances—even before dismantling or disassembly

After a controlled demolition/selective deconstruction of buildings or the breakup of roads, the recyclable material must be processed as recycled building materials (RC building materials) for precisely fitting applications. Often, soil material needs to be treated as well.

The other main area Sustainability in road construction will demonstrate how the processed material can then be used in a reasonable way.
