Water Skills—Professional Competitions (DWA)
Tradition at IFAT since 2010: The professional competitions of the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA).
Due to the ever-increasing international interest, and for the first time ever, the competitions at IFAT 2018 took place under a new name: At World Water Skills, German and international professionals from the profession, "wastewater engineering specialists", measured up against one another. In the second competition, Water Skills Germany, new graduates competed to test their skills.
Concept and implementation: The events at the competition covered the various tasks of a wastewater engineer. Everyday situations in channels and wastewater treatment plants had be mastered. This competition mode brings practical exercises to the fore, such as the perfect channel entry. At the same time, however, participants had to contend with theoretical tasks. Laboratory work was an integral part of the competition, but only those who delivered in both areas of excellence were in with a chance of topping the podium.
